| COURSE OVER VIEW |
| Introduction to the Fashion Industry |
This course provides students with an overview of the fashion industry from research and design to the marketing of the finished century. Special emphasis will be put on the birth of Italian fashion in Florence in 1951 and on major Italian designers or labels like Schiaparelli, Ferragamo, Fontana, Capucci, Valentino, Pucci, Armani, Versace, Dolce e Gabbana, Prada, Gucci, and Cavalli.

| Collection Production |
Students design and execute a collection of three outfits from their personal collections, completed during the Collection Development course. Students will work giving special emphasis to sewing construction, pattern making and draping techniques. Student will
take care of all the details from the sketched idea to the application of lining, buttons, ribbons, buckles or other particular accessories to personalize the outfit. Special attention will be given to the market research, selection of fabrics, sketches and idea boards, original details, and creating products that are wearable with regards to fit and unique in the idea and style.

| PREREQUISITES |

| Couture Techniques and Collection Development or equivalents. |
The course is dependant on the level of the students that attend the summer program. Class may be changed if students do not have the correct prerequisites.

| ACCOMMODATION |
Students will be in shared apartments and will share a room with one other student. Housing costs include coverage of utility costs up to $75. Utility expenses above $75 will be charged to student residents.
The students will have to avail of the accommodation provided by our School as it is one of the prerequisites from the Italian Embassy. We have to guarantee in advance the accommodation and declare the address where the students will be lodged while they are in Italy. This is a very strict regulatory matter in Italy

| STUDENT SERVICES |
LdM will provide all IIFT students with an on-site advisor who will assist them with various issues during their stay in Florence, Rome or Tuscania.
LdM will provide all IIFT students an orientation that will consist of general information about Florence, Rome or Tuscania, the school and program, LdM registration rules and attendance and conduct policy, Italian language placement test, and information session on academic field trips.
LdM staff will be readily accessible to students to assist with their adjustment to Italy and to be available to students for emergencies during the program.
IIFT students need to have their own Italian student visa and medical insurance for the duration of the program, but understand that students also have to purchase the Italian medical insurance to meet the permit of stay requirement.
