• IIFT opened its affiliated centre Atharva International Institute of Fashion Technology in Mumbai in the month of March 2002.
• IIFT now established branch in Gwhati in the month of March 2002.
• IIFT also has new centre in Barelliy and Aligarh & Mathra in the month of March 2002.

• IIFT established branch in Mainpuri in the month of July 2002.
• IIFT inaugurated centre in Rampur , Kota & Sikar (Rajasthan) in the month of July 2002.

• IIFT opened its affiliated centre J. C’s Women’s International Institute of Fashion Technology in Dehradoon in the month of August 2002.
• Established branch was opened in IIFT North & West centre.
• Visit of IIFT Bubhneshwar students to Delhi .
• Seminar of Interior Design by Mr. Anil Baraiya in G.K. Corporate office for IIFT student.
• Fashion Forecasting workshop by Ms. Alka Kohli (M.D.).
• Visit to Lakme India Fashion Week by Mr. R. D. Lal & Ms. Alka Kohli & in depth analysis of National & International Designers.

• An exhibition on 50 yr. Of Italian Fashion was organised at “Italian Embassy Cultural Centre” from 20th Oct. – 2nd Nov. 2002 . IIFT’s Fashion Design department attended the exhibition. Students got an exposure to Italian Fashion.
• A guest lecture on “Export – Import Documentation” by Mr. Sanjay Vardhan an industry expert was conducted exclusively for Apparel Merchandising department.
• IIFT students participated in a 15 days workshop at “Design and Technical Development Centre” in Okhla New Delhi. The workshop was exclusively for the Textile Design department 2 students of IIFT, Mansimran and Sarita Sharma were awarded certificates and cash prize of Rs. 1000 each.
• IIFT organised a “Diwali Meet” on 31st Oct. 2002 at 4.15 PM at G.K. – I. IIFT students, Faculty & centres participated in the meet. D. J. Party & light snacks were organized.

• Mr. R. D. Lal (Founder & CEO) formally inaugurated its Varanasi centre – SIFT- affiliated centre of IIFT at Sunbeam School . Miss. Neha Dhupia (Femina Miss. India Universe ’02) was guest of honor. A 3-day’s trip to varanasi was organised in this context.
• IIFT participated in a Fashion Show on 14th Nov. ’02 at 7.30 PM in India International Trade Fair ’02. The venue was Hamsdhwani Theatre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi . The show was choreographed by Mr. Anup Banerjee. The theme of the show was “Dances & Festivals of India ”. The students of IIFT Lucknow had created stunning Sarees. The show was covered by ZEE TV & AAJ TAK.
• On 20th Nov. ’02 , IIFT students and faculties had organised a BI – Annual Exhibition at the Head Office. Mr. R. D. Lal & Ms. Alka Kohli were the chief guest. Mr. R. D. Lal also addressed the students about their work & motivated them to create professionals out of them selves. The students of all the departments had displayed their creativities in the form of projects and files. Different department had worked on different themes.
• The AM department had made a model on Production Unit. The FD July Batch had draped different varieties of Jute along with Jute accessories. The FD Aug. batch had opted the theme of “Barbie Doll”. The ID department had exhibited bedrooms & Living rooms. “Bandhini” was the theme opted by TD department. They had draped bandhini sarees, fabrics & duppattas. Their main was to exhibit “Dyeing & Printing”.
• EDU FRANCE WEEK – IIFT students had gone for counselling on different courses at EDU FRANCE WEEK, on 7 th Dec. ’02 at 12.30 PM in Delhi . The venue was EDU FRANCE, 2 AURANGZEB ROAD , DELHI .

They were councelled for different courses related to fashion designing, French language and other Management courses, offered Abroad.

The main aim was to make them aware of the scholarship programmes and job opportunities available abroad.

• IIFT had organised a get together on the occasion of Christmas and New – Year on 24 th Dec. ’02 at IIFT Premier, M-15, G.K.- I. Mr. R. D. Lal (Founder & CEO, IIFT Group) addressed the students. The main attraction of the party was the Kids Fashion Show depicting the Denim and Party collection. A second round of fashion show was done by the FD students depicting the Indian Ethnic Dresses. All the dresses were created by the budding fashion designers of IIFT. The party also included dance competition, Antakshari between boys & girls and light refreshment. Prizes were distributed to the Best Dancer Male & Female, and Best Dressed Male and Female.
• IIFT had participated in December Carnival, at Ballrom, Hyatt, Delhi , on 29 th Dec. ’02 . The carnival had different items like Fashion Shows, Astrology Consultation, Lucky Draws, Games, Jewellery Designers etc.

In Fashion Shows Garments were designed by IIFT students. The students garments got great exposure to the renowned export houses and other prominent guests and media.
