1997 was the time when everybody was giving credit to IIFT for bringing Indian fashion to the world map and making consistent and conscious effort to promote fashion in Indian and let the Indian fashion designer get exposure to showcase there talent. Like every preceding year, this year was no exception and IIFT kept on organising fashion show one after another. The first fashion show that was organised by iift in 1997 was 19th Century Fashion Paegant on 19 Jan '97 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, this was followed by Reflections '97 on 19 Jan '97 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, Swarna Jayanti Fashion Show on 24 Sept '97 at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, Nepal, Himgirl Fashion Show on 26 Sept '97 at Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, Nepal, Essence of India on 13 Oct '97 at City Palace, Jaipur, Rajasthan, Ethnic Galore on 16 Nov '97 at Ganga Mahotsav, Varanasi, Defile - De - Mode on 10 Dec ,97 at Swiss Embassy, New Delhi.
