BRAND SEMINAR REPORT

We are pleased to inform you that International Institute of Fashion Technology (IIFT) and International Institute of Retail Management (IIRM) had organized Brand Mania’09 “An Interactive Session On Effective Branding And Marketing” on 16th Feb.’09 at India Islamic Cultural Centre, Lodhi Road, Delhi.

Brand Mania 2009 was a global platform to discuss world class retail practices. The focus of the seminar was on establishing Brand, Brand Strength & Brand Marketing in Retail perspective. Seminar was attended by the Retail Industry Professionals and Retail Management students with an interest in learning more about the Indian Retail Industry.

Brand Mania’09 “AN INTERACTIVE SESSION ON EFFECTIVE BRANDING AND MARKETING. The seminar was organized on 16th Feb’09 at India Islamic Cultural Centre. 87/88, Lodhi Road , New Delhi -3. The timings were 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM. The speakers were from popular brands like:- ROHIT BAL, FUTURE BRANDS, DFU PUBLICATION, INTAGARTEK, STAR NEWS ETC.

The ceremony was started with the lighting of lamp by Mr. Ratnadeep Lal (Chairman IIFT Group).

ARUNA BAL SHARMA (SENIOR MANAGER) “ROHIT BAL” She is senior manager working for famous designer Rohit Bal and Head of Ass. M.G mall. She spoke in detail about the materials used by Rohit Bal which includes traditional Indian materials like Matka Silk, Chanderi Fabrics, Tussar silks, raw silks etc. Most of his designs are based on traditional Indian motifs and embroideries and also gave a site of the facts that how Rohit bal’s Retail Chain Works.

MR. RATNADEEP LAL (FOUNDER & CHAIRMAN – INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY - IIFT) – Spoke about “Branding in Recession” and gave a vision to the students of how to brand yourself during the current industry scenario and also gave them some valuable tips in regard to individual branding and encouraged them to brand themselves and lift their career in the respective fields.

ATULIT SAXENA (MARKETING HEAD) FUTURE BRANDS Spoke how cultures are linked and have an underlined patterns which helps in creating unified Brand Ideas. India is a highly brand conscious country. Bigger the Idea around brand, larger the brand is. According to him pictures helps to understand the roots better than verbal communications.

SALIL CHAWLA (BEAREAU CHIEF) DFU PUBLICATION Mr. Chawla who has established ‘Inside fashion’ spoke about Pricing, branding, value addition. He emphasized that brands are build in the minds of the people and are created by right kind of value. He also said that media is like a mirror and is important for communication.

MR. RAJESH NATRAJAN (FREE LANCER EDITOR) Spoke about small businesses and building brands. He spoke about how a business can be a small business even with large investment or vice a versa. A business can be created with a small investment of 40,000 or a large investment of Rs 5 crores. If an Idea talks to people it can reach large groups, such a business then becomes a large Business. He also spoke about how brands are build on Tangibles and not just investment.

MR. K. MOTWANI (DIRECTOR) INTAGARTEK (INDIA) PVT LTD Spoke about the specifications. which should be kept in mind when setting a new unit. He spoke about the various machines now being used in the industry and how they help in improving the production in a cost effective manner. He also spoke about his various experiences with companies. Like, Gap, Nike, Tommy Hilfiger, Wal – Mart etc. He spoke about how unit is planned from fabric receiving followed by cut to pack including all areas required for stores, cutting, sewing, washing, finishing, packing, administrative area required for show rooms, sampling, merchandisers, accounts, documentations etc.

MR. SRIVARDHAN TRIVEDI (ANCHOR OF SANSANI) STAR NEWS A pass out form national school of drama who has worked in more than 200 plays and directed and written more than 10 plays, currently hosting a popular show ‘Sansani” on Star News channel spoke about how to create a signature line of your self as a designer or a brand. He spoke to the students about the role of Hard work, Research and continuous sustainability of project to make a product successful.
